Global data: What every country was top for in 2016

U.K. is top for billionaires. We're not, sadly.

Information is Beautiful have created a global map showing what every country on earth is top for.

Categorising the data points into “Commodity”, “Psychology”, “Ecology”, “Gastronomy”, “Economy”, “Nicety”, “Humanity”, “Technology” and “Nasty” shows the best and worst of our planet – ‘Because every country is the best at something’.

Data was gathered from multiple sources including the CIA, UN, BBC, Reuters and the Guinness Book of World Records.

For the optimists out there the leaders in positivity, wellbeing, happiness and scrabble players will be a refreshing ray of sunshine compared with murder, car crashes and spam emails.

The map was compiled by David McCandless and colleagues at InformationisBeautiful.net.
